Description

The misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs has become a major problem throughout the United States. In response to the increasing prevalence of substance use, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) have developed strategies to prevent substance use. This course will review the strategies put forth by the HHS and SAMHSA to prevent substance use. This course will also provide health care professionals with an understanding of how to effectively plan and implement prevention events.

Objectives

On completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1.Identify substance use risk factors and protective factors.

2.Examine strategies to prevent substance use.

3.Review methods to effectively plan and implement prevention events.
