Description

Locating youth who have aged out of foster care has become a pressing policy concern. This CEU course begins with an overview of the Multi-Site Evaluation and information on the successes of the locating effort undertaken during the evaluation. This course also includes information on the process for locating youth, methods and tools that can be used to track youth, locations where youth are frequently found, and lessons learned that could be used as part of the National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) data collection.

Objectives

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to:
1. Enumerate the government services that youth leaving foster care commonly participate in, making government databases an important opportunity to locate youth formerly in foster care.

2. Investigate the methods that prove to be the most useful for locating youth.

3. Identify who the highest percentage of youth stay in contact with at least once per month after leaving foster care.
