Description

The youngest children are the most vulnerable to child maltreatment. This short CEU course provides the experience of instability in caregivers and households among young children in the child welfare system, including children who are placed out of home and children who remain in-home with their families following investigation.

Objectives

On completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Discuss the attachment types that have been associated with externalizing problems.

2. Investigate the most prevalent reason that children are reported and come to the attention of CWS.

3. Examine the factors that greatly increase a child’s chances of growing up in care.

4. Identify the amount of time that a change in caregivers can activate stress responses in young children beyond normal levels.
