Description

This learning module emphasises the importance of effective presentation skills. Such skills allow nurses to share knowledge and expertise and to communicate clearly in a range of workplace scenarios. Nurses are increasingly being asked to present in formal and informal situations, such as conferences, poster presentations, job interviews, case reports and ward-based teaching. This module explores the principles underpinning the development of these skills, discusses the situations in which they could be applied and demonstrates how nurses might improve and develop as presenters.

Objectives

After reading this module you should be able to:
Identify why presentation skills are important in nursing and recognise opportunities to demonstrate them.
Describe the principles underpinning effective presentation and implement these principles in your work environment.
Adapt these skills to a range of situations.
Recognise how to develop your own style of presenting, and increase your confidence as a presenter.
