Description

The long term care setting has its own set of unique challenges in rehab, both for the patients and for the therapists. Feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, detachment, and cynicism; physical symptoms including increased blood pressure, headaches, and stomach upset; diminished productivity and lack of concentration are signs of stress and burnout. Job turnover, chronic absenteeism, health problems, and poor patient/resident outcomes in the long term care environment can result from prolonged exposure to stress and burnout. In this fast-paced video seminar you will learn about symptoms and warning signs of stress and burnout. More importantly, you will discover effective ways for coping with job-related and personal stress and will learn about measures you can take to reduce your risk of burnout specific to the world of geriatrics. You will learn ways to improve your communication with clients and co-workers and experience increased job satisfaction. This two-hour course will give you some great ideas for increasing your resilience and recharging yourself professionally and personally.
