Description

Advantedge Education is pleased to have teamed up with Healthcare Learning Innovations and RTConnections to offer Strategies to Stop the Cycle of Nurse Bullying.

Have you ever witnessed or experienced bullying in the workplace? Sixty percent (60%) of all new nurses quit their first job within the first 6 months due to the bad behavior of their co-workers. Almost half of graduating nurses are concerned about becoming the target of workplace bullying in their first job. Nurse bullying is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Globally, bullying costs organizations $5 to $6 billion dollars a year, but patients pay the ultimate price for bullying with their outcomes. Organizations with a high rate of bullying have worse patient outcomes.

The recognition of bullying is key to developing and implementing strategies to create a professional, supportive and nurturing environment. Many don't even realize that bullying is the culprit of unhappiness with their working environment.

This course empowers nurses to identify the characteristics of nurse bullying behaviors and their impact on the work environment. In addition, strategies and proven techniques will be offered to help stop the cycle of nurse bullying.

Several of the topics covered in this course include:

Statistics about nurse bullying in the workforce
Theories about the prevalence of bullying
Why bullying continues
Impact of bullying
Bullying basics
Bullying or something else?
Strategies to stop the bullying cycle

Objectives

On completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Evaluate characteristics of disruptive behavior that impact the work environment.

2. Explore how successful nurses eliminate bullying behavior.

3. Identify 3 strategies to stop the cycle of nurse bullying.
