Description

This course will discuss the many diverse elements to mental health, the history, medical updates, studies to the complexity of human behaviours, mental disorders, cultural beliefs and developments including substance abuse, anxiety, obsessive compulsive, Neurodiversity, sleeping disorders, gender and the treatment/ diagnosis process.
This e-learning will analyse the medical public health HIPPA Act and Medicaid including worksheets for all disorders and studies for future developments. Several audios and videos have also been included incorporating articles and professionals perspectives on this vast chapter on mental health.

Objectives

On completion for this course the learner will be able to:

Dr Clare Steffen

For over twenty years, Clare E. Steffen, Ed.D., NCC, CADCII, ICADC has built a solid reputation as a licensed psychologist. For the past forty-five years, she has worked in the fields of psychology, substance use treatment and prevention, wellness, and education. Dr. Steffen is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II in Oregon and California, along with holding International Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She is a National Board Certified Counselor, and Board Certified Coach (life, wellness, and business). Clare has a second doctorate in Naturopathy as well as has certification as a Natural Health Professional, and Master Herbalist. Dr. Steffen performs lifestyle analysis, and incorporates a wellness perspective into psychological services provided. Clare has provided services to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families and older adults and has worked in educational settings, clinics, hospitals, family courts, wellness centers, neuro-rehabilitation centers, VA clinics, Indian Health, and private practices.
Currently, Dr. Steffen is an adjunct professor at Northwest Christian University where she works in the Counseling and Mental Health (CMHC) Program and the Adult Degree Program (ADP). She teaches a variety of counseling and psychology course. She previously taught at the University of Oregon in the Substance Abuse Prevention Program, Western Oregon University in the Psychology Department, Pacific University in the Education Department, Sonoma State University in the Gerontology Program, and Saint Xavier University/Drake University in the Education and Psychology Departments, Alliant University Continuing Education, and Chico State Continuing Education. She worked at DeAnza and Foothill Colleges in the Gerontology Programs, Mt. View-Los Altos Adult Education, and Lane Community College as an academic advisor.
She has hosted her own radio talk show and has published books, articles and CD’s on health and wellness topics. In 2011, she became the Founding and Executive Director of Coaching Choice College (www.coachingchoicecollege.com), which is committed to the development and training of life, wellness, and business coaches who are social entrepreneurs. The college also offers a continuing education program through www.CE4coaches.com. She recently founded www.ce4counselors to provide continuing education to counselors.
Dr. Steffen is a psychologist, educator, published author, and public speaker. Her trustworthy reputation and unique insight and knowledge have made her many families choice as a therapist, trainer, and educator. She is currently bringing the message of emotional intelligence to the young people of Nepal and has formed a support program to provide global services. The messages of empowerment, emotional intelligence, and choice are a core value for services provided by Dr. Steffen.
