Description

Mindfulness for Nurses is a short course that utilizes the basic principles of mindfulness tailored for the Nursing profession. Barbara Neiman will demonstrate techniques for you to immediately add to your toolbox. Examples of somatic activities to improve body awareness, cognitive and positive psychology to manage difficult behavior and reduce anxiety, restful guided imagery to build brain function, meditation to increase grey matter, and restorative yoga poses for nurses to rejuvenate after a hard day’s work. Barbara will train you how to teach these tools to your clients in a fun and easy way. These tools are applicable for home and work and will help you on the job to reduce stress and increase joy. Barbara is a National Seminar Presenter and she has a humorous and warm presentation style.

Objectives

Objective 1:
Learn 3 breathing techniques that reduce workday stress and patient’s anxiety
Objective 2:
Utilize hand positions and yoga poses to facilitate relaxation for staff and patients
Objective 3:
Apply principles of mindfulness and yoga to improve attention, communication, and to enhance focused calmness.
Objective 4:
Demonstrate how guided imagery can reduce anxiety, promote sleep and facilitate centeredness at work.

Ms Barbara Neiman

Barbara Neiman is an Integrative Occupational Therapist who teaches healthcare and trauma professionals about somatic experience. She is a Yoga Teacher 200RYT, a coach for families and professionals seeking a holistic practice and a National Seminar Presenter with Pesi.com. She teaches courses on Yoga and Mindfulness and Trauma Informed Yoga around the country. Barbara created Health Discovery, in 1988, to provide services for infants through school age children. As a Certified Practitioner of Body Mind Centering since 1989, Barbara has taught experiential hands on, movement, and meditation classes to hundreds of students.

Resources include coaching, trainings for mindfulness and yoga in the schools, recorded seminars on Yoga and Mindfulness for Children, podcasts on Trauma. Blogs on her website include posts about mindfulness, SEL, digital detox, executive function skills for teens, sensory integration, wellness, etc. Barbara has several DVDs available on Yoga and Mindfulness at Pesi.com.
