Description

This 3-hour lecture on diseases of marine mammals covers the gross morbid anatomy and various pathologic conditions affecting various species of snakes, lizards, and chelonians in captive collections.

Objectives

Demonstration of gross morbid anatomy and the pathogenesis of a wide range of disease in various species of reptiles.
By the end of this lecture, the viewer will gain an increased understanding of the gross lesions, as well as the presenting clinical signs, pathogenetic mechanisms and pathophysiology, as well as the appropriate differential diagnosis for a wide range of diseases affecting marine mammals.

Dr. Garner obtained his DVM degree from Washington State University in 1987. He practiced four years in a companion/exotic animal clinic prior to entering a pathology residency at the University of Florida. After becoming board-certified, Dr. Garner founded Northwest ZooPath in 1994. Mike has authored or co-authored several articles on the pathology and medicine of non-domestic species. He is a member of AAZV, AAV, WDA, ARAV, Am. Assoc. of Avian Path., Am Assoc. for Lab. Anim. Sci., Am. Fisheries Soc., Internat. Assoc. Aquat. Anim.. Med, and Am. Assoc. of Vet. Lab. Diagnosticians. Mike is also an adjunct associate professor of pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University.
