Description

This course will review the past and present polymers available as contact lenses.
Discussion of the material differences, pros and cons of silicone-hydrogels vs hydrogels, and solutions for lens care will be provided.

Objectives

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to describe the polymer differences that exist among the various contact lenses.
All should be able to elucidate the rationale for choosing a silicone-hydrogel polymer over a traditional hydrogel after this course.
Limitations inherent with all available polymers/contact lenses should be understood after this course.

Dr Douglas Benoit OD

Dr. Douglas P. Benoit is the senior optometrist with Concord Eye Center, a multi-sub-specialty ophthalmology group located in Concord, NH.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the Section on Cornea, Contact Lenses and Refractive Technologies. He is currently the Special Advisor to the Section.
