Description

Dry eye is a commonly under diagnosed condition, however it is often the reason why patients visit their eyecare professional. This course reviews the prevalence, symptoms and diagnosis of dry eye disease. Scleral lenses are a potential treatment for ocular surface disease. A variety of clinical cases with the use of scleral lenses for ocular surface disease will be included on the topics of Sjögren’s syndrome, exposure keratitis and post – Lasik ectasia.

This course is NOT COPE accredited however, one hour of COPE-approved continuing education credit is available for the webinar. To register for CE credit, please fill out the printable form, and mail or fax to the GP Lens Institute with your payment. Then you will receive the CE test. The cost is $25 per webinar, of which $5 will be donated to Optometry Giving Sight

Melissa Barnett, OD, FAAO, FSLS

Dr. Melissa Barnett is a principal optometrist at the UC Davis Eye Center in Sacramento. She is an internationally recognized key opinion leader specializing in anterior segment disease and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Barnett lectures and publishes extensively on topics including dry eye, anterior segment disease, contact lenses, and creating a healthy balance between work and home life for women in optometry. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Diplomate of theAmerican Board of Certification in Medical Optometry (ABCMO); she serves on the Board of Women of Vision (WOV), Gas Permeable Lens Institute (GPLI), Ocular Surface Society of Optometry (OSSO); and serves as President of the Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS). Dr. Barnett is a spokesperson for the California Optometric Association and a guest lecturer for the STAPLE Program. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, yoga, hiking and spending time with her family, Todd Erickson, also an optometrist, and two sons, Alex and Drew.
