Objectives

The participant will learn about:

- Pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease and chronic enteropathies
- Clinical signs and diagnosing adverse food reaction in dogs and cats
- Treatment and management strategies for chronic enteropathies and IBD
- Food allergens
- Dietary strategies and nutritional therapy for IBD
- Diet types and considerations: hydrolysates, commercial, homemade, raw
Pharmacologic Therapy, Supplements, and Alternative and Complementary Care Considerations
The participant will learn about:
- Standard pharmacologic therapies including anti-inflammatories, antimicrobials, motility modifiers, anti-emetics
- Pre- and probiotics, fiber, essential fatty acids
- Cobalamin, iron, vitamins and minerals
- Complementary care options

His research interests include nephrology and urology with focus on urolithiasis, urinary incontinence, and urinary tract infections, as well as nutrition with a focus on the role of nutrition in health and disease.
